WOW!!!! you might say, your Brownie troop really does a lot of fieldtrips!!! Our troop came into a really nice donation and has been able to experience several things that we might not ordinarily do. For example, yesterday we visited the Detroit School of Rock. I think it was only about $250 for our entire troop but that was $250 that we didn'thave without our donation...anyway, it was well worth the money. The girls got to hear an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and drum set and learn a little backgroundand info on each. After the demonstration everyone got a free for all to try out each instrument. Mr. Dan, the owner of the school, has such patience and really leads by example when it comes to "share your toys". He was not only comfortable letting the girls (and dads) bang away on his instruments but was thrilled that everyone was showing such interest in "music"-or noise depending on who was in the band at any given moment...it was mostly noise!! After our instrument time the girls cut to tracks and we even got to keep their music. They sang BEP Tonight's gonna be a good night and Katy Perry Firework. It was a blast. SOme ofthe parents hung out in the recording studio and shook our booties while the girls belted out their tunes. We stuck around for a good 45 minutes after our scheduled time to chat with Mr. Dan while some of the kids continues to bang away on his instruments. That is a man who has a passion for music and a passion for sharing his art!!
